Jensen Group Architects (JGA) located in Victoria BC is a medium sized architectural corporation of four employees led by current owner/principal Don Brown Architect AIBC . The firm founded in 1997 was a continuance of Jensen Group Architecture and Darrel Jensen Architect which has been in business since 1979. Don joined Darrel in 1982 following three years of architectural practice in London, England working on low cost housing solutions.
At Jensen Group our mission has been to create innovative sustainable architecture that serves social and community needs. To create places where people can live, work and relax in environments that will enrich their lives.
Since inception JGA has maintained a shared commitment to provide clients with Design Excellence and Personal Service. The result has been the successful design and construction of a wide variety of building types as well as the completion of many building audits and planning and programming studies establishing a reputation for quality service. Throughout the years, the key personnel have been extensively involved in the development of design solutions for the changing needs of non-profit housing providers and users, and have established a consistent record of delivering low-cost projects on time and on budget.
As noted the practice is also founded on the philosophy of providing personal and quality service to clients. To this end the principal and senior architects are always involved throughout the project from beginning to end.. The core company remains purposefully small to ensure that quality and services are maintained.
In 2006 we formed Jensen Chernoff Thompson Architects (JCTA) which is a partnership of corporations of JGA and Chernoff Thompson Architects (CTA). The combination of the two firms with CTA having over 40 employees allows JGA immediate access to production staff, LEED AP’s, and marketing professionals for larger projects or for when circumstances dictate. JCTA now in it’s 18th year has a full range of successfully completed college and university buildings on Vancouver Island both renovations and new construction including the award winning Learning and Innovation Centre at Royal Roads University
